Prof. Eliane Martins is in Coimbra to spend a 1-month secondment working with the local partners. Eliane is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Computing - University of Campinas (IC-UNICAMP), and she is the Principal Investigator of the UNICAMP team in the DEVASSES project.
Eliane presented some of the work she has been developing with her students in a presentation entitled “Model-Based Robustness Testing. Approaches and Some Results” in the context of the regular seminars of CISUC-SSE group, which attracted a broad audience of local professors, researchers and students. Many of the attendees work in robustness testing topics, which led to a quite enthusiastic discussion.
The secondment is synchronized with the DEVASSES Face-to-Face meeting and ToK Workshop V, which will be held in Coimbra in February 1-2. This will allow to better prepare the technical discussions on the work packages. The meeting will be attended by representatives of all partners, and will be particularly busy as the project reaches its middle point.
The University of Campinas (UNICAMP) receives the secondments of two European researchers in this fall: Nádia Medeiros from the University of Coimbra (UC) that will fullfill a 4-months secondments, and Andrea Ceccarelli from University of Florence (UNIFI), which is completing a 2-month secondment.
Nádia (in the picture, in the middle) is a PhD student at the UC under supervision of Prof. Marco Vieira. Her research topic is on “Models and Tools for Benchmarking the Trustworthiness of Software Systems”. Nádia will spend her secondment at the School of Technology (FT-UNICAMP) working with Tania Basso and Prof. Regina Moraes, and the goal for the secondment is to identify evidences of trustworthiness based on privacy.
Andrea is a Researcher at the UNIFI. He will perform is secondment in Institute of Computing (FT-UNICAMP), where, among the other activities, he is currently working with Prof. Cecilia Rubira on the ongoing deliverables of the work packages 2 and 3.
The University of Coimbra is pleased to receive the secondments of three Brazilian researchers in this fall: Daniele Januário and Ricardo Barbosa from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) that will fullfill 2-month secondments, and Henrique Alves from Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), which will stay for 6 months.
Daniele and Ricardo are MSc students at the School of Technology (FT-UNICAMP) supervised by with Prof. Regina Moraes and Prof. Ana Estela Silva on techniques and tools to help the agile developers dealing with user stories, mainly when the backlog size increases. The secondments will be useful for both to advance with their thesis works with contribution from the UC researchers. Ricardo is developing techniques to automatically group user stories according to their proximity, while Daniele is trying to find automatic ways to order this user stories according to which ones should be implemented first.
Daniele and Ricardo presented their work this week in the context of the regular seminars of CISUC-SSE group, which attracts local professors, researchers and students. Daniele presented “An Approach to Sequencing of Textual Requirements”, while Ricardo presented “The use of Text Clustering and Textual Similarity Measures to support the Scrum Framework”.
Henrique is a MSc student at the UFAL where he is advised by Prof. Baldoino Fonseca and Nuno Antunes (UC). The secondment will allow Henrique to advance his thesis works which has the goal of research ways to predict the existence of vulnerabilities based on characteristics of the software, such as code metrics. Currently, he is trying to find relations between software metrics of functions and the existence of software vulnerabilities. Regarding the presentation, Henrique is scheduled for the next week, to present his current work and the plans for the future.
Prof. Andrea Bondavalli arrived on August 5 to Campinas for a secondment in the context of the DEVASSES project at University of Campinas (FT-UNICAMP).
Most of the secondment will be spent at the Institute of Computing, where diverse activities are planned with the local professors and students. This includes the “statutory” seminar, which in this secondment was on “Dependability modeling and analysis integrated in a model-driven engineering framework", and happened on August 17, and other seminars, such as “AMADEOS: bringing time awareness into the design of system-of-systems”, and also on “the GUARDS Architecture”.
This period also allows for lectures to graduate and undergraduate students on the themes of DEVASSES project, as part of the Transfer of Knowledge (ToK) activities and is also very useful for planning and coordination of future secondments of the UNIFI and UNICAMP teams.
Further ToK and dissemination activities were carried out, including visits and seminars at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), in Campo Grande (Aug. 14) and at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), in São José dos Campos (Aug. 18).
Prof. Bondavalli is an Associate Professor at the University of Florence (UNIFI) where he leads the Resilient Computing Lab. His research activity is focused on safety, security, fault tolerance, evaluation of attributes such as reliability, availability and performability of complex systems and infrastructures. He is the Principal Investigator of UNIFI in DEVASSES.
